Q&A: The Slow Readers Club

You’re about to go on tour and will soon be performing at Neighbourhood Weekender what can the audience expect?

Yeah will be playing Neighbourhood right off the back of our biggest ever U.K. tour and first tour of Europe (47 dates)
so you should be in for a pretty nailed on performance.
We have songs to make you dance and sing and if you are new to us expect them to stick in your head.
  1. What is your favourite song to perform live?

At the moment it’s probably our latest single On The TV, we’ve had some mad audience sing alongs to that one on tour. The Apollo in Manchester was particularly mental, there’s a video of that online somewhere.
  1. Do you have any tour or live rituals?

We usually stick Georgio by daft punk on before we go on stage, gets us buzzing.
  1. Where has been your favourite gig so far?

Has to be our Sold Out Manchester Apollo show at the end of last year. Any band that comes from Manchester dreams of playing that venue. Looking out on 3500 people and knowing that our music brought them there was an amazing feeling.
  1. Which song do you wish you had written?

Everything Now by Arcade Fire, it’s a big upbeat ABBA type tune with an interesting message.
  1. What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?

Rolling Stones twickenham, 40 licks tour
  1. Which other artists are you listening to at the moment?

Sam Fender I think he has some great songs and a really distinctive voice. Foals and Vampire Weekends new stuff, Wolf Alice, Cvurches and Idles when the mood takes me.
  1. Who would you most like to collaborate with?

James Murphy of LCD Sound System or Daft Punk.
  1. Plans for the rest of the year?

After Neighbourhood we play Mad Cool in Madrid, and we may have further festivals to announce. Other than that we will be back to writing or next album, we managed to demo six tracks in January so making great progress. We may do some winter shows too but just in the process of sorting that out. It’s likely the album will be next year though.
  1. Message for the fans?

Cheers once again for supporting us so far, you guys spreading the word has played a massive part in us getting this far. Would be great to see you all at Neighbourhood and you can help us show new people what we are all about
