The nominations for the AMA awards have been announced with Drake leading the way with 13 nominations and also 20 first-time nominees including Chainsmoker’s and Twenty One Pilots, the list of nominees reflects that the award ceremony is one to watch, airing on the 20th Nov.
All eyes will be focused on Drake for the evening as people will be eagerly observing just how many out of the 13 awards he’s been nominated for, he will win. The announcement of Drakes nominations come at a good time as his tour has just been announced, and with nominations under his belt such as ‘Artist of The Year‘, ‘Favorite Album–Pop/Rock‘ and TWO nominations for ‘Favorite Album–Rap/Hip-Hop‘ the tour is set to be a good one and certainly one with high expectations.
Impressively, Rihanna is the second most nominated artist this year with 7 nominations to her name, including ‘Favourite Female – Soul/R&B‘ which she has previously won 5 times and won over Beyonce last year. This year she is up against Beyonce again, will Rihanna remain the reigning Soul/R&B Favourite Female or will Queen Bee swoop in and take the crown?
Not only are the bigger, more established artists achieving multiple nominations this year, but so are the more new artists such as Chainsmokers, having been nominated for three awards, ‘Favorite Duo or Group -Pop/Rock‘ & ‘New Artist of the Year;’ (Unleashed by T-Mobile award) and ‘Favourite Artist – EDM‘. Not only have they impressed by being nominated for three awards, but they have also impressed by embarking on their own headline sold out tour this month!
Country stars such as Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Luke Bryan have all been nominated for AMA awards also, those of which have all performed at Country to Country Festival in the 02 London,the festival is set to return again next year. The list of nominee’s for the AMA’s is one that many could have predicted, but also all very well deserved.
