INTERVIEW WITH… THE CORONAS

What are you up to at this very moment?

I’m sitting in a hotel lobby in Budapest. We played here last night as part of our European tour. Off to Vienna now. It’s been going great so far. Amsterdam, Zurich and Budapest have all been sold out

What can fans expect to experience at one of your shows?

A high energy sing-along pop rock extravaganza!

What is your favourite song to perform live?
Closer to You, the lyrics mean a lot to me and it has an epic feel to it.

When you’re not performing what do you do to keep yourself busy when you’re on tour / on the road?

We’re lucky that we get on really well with each other so it never gets too difficult on the road. We play Playstation in the van, watch TV series such as Breaking Bad or The Wire

What’s the best gig you’ve ever played?

Probably our 6 night stint in the Olympia theatre in Dublin last Christmas. It’s an amazing venue. I grew up going to shows there, so to sell it out six times was a really cool moment for us

What was the first gig you ever went to?
My parents brought me to see the Cranberries in the Point Depot in Dublin when I was about 12. It has since changed names to the O2 and we’re playing there this December which will be our biggest show ever

Which other artists are you listening to at the moment?
Mick Flannery, Hudson Taylor, Roisin O, Bon Iver, Phoenix, Mumford and Sons

Which song do you wish you had written?

Paranoid Android – Radiohead

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Prince – he’s a legend and can play every instrument and would make me look very tall

Plans for the rest of the year?

This Euro tour for 2 more weeks, then UK tour for 2 weeks, then O2 Dublin Dec 14th then Christmas holidays! 🙂
