Mancunian four-piece, Puressence take some time out to tell us what they’re up to and promise that their live show will be nothing short of a party!

1. What are you up to at this very moment?

I‘m writing these answers watching it tip it down outside, another wonderful British summer that never happened
2. What can fans expect to experience at one of your shows?
Music to move their souls as well as their feet….hopefully a massive party

3. What is your favourite song to perform live?
Personally, my favourite is ‘make time’….the effects do most of the work so i get to jump around….that or ‘swathes of sea made stone’ for the opposite reason

4. When you’re not performing what do you do to keep yourself busy when you’re on tour / on the road?
We take pictures of ourselves on childrens rides..the ones you get outside Asda or fun fares. that or tiger woods golf…. aside from that i’m working on my 10 pint rule…it still needs a bit of work

5. What’s the best gig you’ve ever played?

It changes all the time….supporting Iggy Pop is definitely up there. The Apollo was pretty special…sometimes its the little sweaty ones that turn out to be blinding, I like to be surprised…sometimes
6. What was the first gig you ever went to?

Bob Dylan at Shepherds Bush Empire. I was about 12. My dad took me, i think he thought bob was going to drop so he wanted me to see him before he did….little did he know he’d still be knocking about years later
7. Which other artists are you listening to at the moment?
The Felice Brothers, Sigur Ros, Exit Calm, Beach house, Boards Of canada, Deerhunter, Amos Milburn, beruit, Phil Pratt, the jan
ice graham band, Milton Boothe, Bob Dorough, Tommy Mc.Cook, Lightin’ Hopkins, barrington Levy, scientist, Memphis slim, horace andy, charles wright and the watts 103rd street rhythm band
8. Which song do you wish you wrote?

Funky Worm by the Ohio Players
9. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
My namesake but there’s not much chance of that he’s been dead 30 odd years….anyone from ‘the band’. but the only one alive from them is robbie robertson i think……ok, roots manuva…he’s alive isnt he?

10. Plans for the rest of the year?
Writing, recording, releasing, touring etc…..the old machine creaks into gear
