Mark Stewart recently announced the release of his new album “The Politics Of Envy”, which is released on Future Music on 26th March, and includes collaborations with the likes of Primal Scream and Factory Floor. We caught up with the man himself to talk…
G&T: What are you up to at this moment?
MS: Doing a piece for Andy Warhol’s interview.
G&T: We’re really excited about the shows at the end of the month in Manchester and London. What can the audience expect?
MS: A barrage of sonic dissonance, a great night out, a full on party and lashings of Supermodels.
G&T: Do you have any plans to play any festivals this year?
MS: The Eisteddford in Wales hopfully.
G&T: Will you be playing all new material or a mixture of your back catalogue at the shows ahead?
MS: A mixture of old and new. The brand new stuff will be from the soon to come album “The Politics Of Envy” which I’m particularly pleased with….it’s bloody slammin’ mate!
G&T: What’s your favourite song to perform live?
MS: Starfuckers.
G&T: What has been your favourite gig?
MS: SO MANY, but I really enjoyed grandmaster flash in Japan recently, and Rock n Roll Animal period Lou Reed back in the day.
G&T: Which song do you wish you had written?
MS: The Utopian anthem Jerusalem by William Blake
G&T: What was the first gig you ever went to?
MS: War.
G&T: What are your plans for the rest of the year?
MS: Touring the globe!
