Interview with… Saintsaviour

Share:
Saint Saviour plays her first full solo show at London’s Bush Hall on October the 23rd, 2010 and we got the chance to catch up with the lady herlsef on touring with Groove Armada and her new solo material…….

* So Saintsaviour what are you up to at this very moment?
I’m on the bus to Hackney to return some fashion pieces I borrowed from Rachel Freire for a music video, then straight to a Groove Armada rehearsal in an ex biscuit factory.

*You’re touring in October, what can the audience expect?

Well, I’m fronting GA so it’ll be more of the same, total balls-out conviction and out of this world costumes, to some serious banging tunes. My solo show at Bush Hall on the 23rd October will be the start of me as a totally independent solo artist and the show will be a lot more feminine but just as powerful and engaging.

*What is your favourite song to perform live?
With GA – ‘Paper Romance’ and with my solo show – ‘Woman Scorned’

*Who has released a stand out album this year?
Foals

*Which song do you wish you had written?
Spanish Sahara, of course! Or if you mean any song from history, ‘Bird on the Wire’ by Leonard Cohen.

*Any surprises in the pipeline for your UK performances?
I’m taller than you may imagine, and I’ve got a well silly accent.

*If you were to send someone to prison for crimes against music, who would it be?

Its difficult this one, because I think everyone has a place, but there was one song that once nearly gave me a stroke in the gym and the chorus went ‘ we went to the bar, for a sambu-car, I gave you my num-bar, and I took your num-bar’. Honestly….didn’t get his name but that guy! Proper ‘Kill Your Friends’ material.

*Whats your favourite animal and why?
The ‘yoga bear’ who featured in the Metro a couple of mornings ago, because I love her sense of peace and focus.

*If you were a superhero, what would be your super power?
I’d have the power to make everyone get out of my bloody way when I’m trying to shop.

*What were you doing last night at 11?
Sleeping, it was a school night.

*Plans for the rest of the year?
I want some label support so I can release my album and do a tour.

Don’t miss out seeing her live on 23rd October and you can also catch her with Groove Armada on tour from next week starting in Leeds.
