You may already know Jónsi as guitarist/vocalist from the successful Icelandic band Sigur Rós but this year he’s flying solo with a massive debut tour following the release of his debut album ‘Go’ back in April. But this tour promises to a bit more special than the usual music gig set-up – Jónsi has given his tour a theatrical/artistic twist and teamed up with a production company to “create the most amazing live show experience possible“. The stage show promises to bring together elements of film, art installation, theatre and animation combined with Jónsi’s live concert performance. So not your average pub gig then??!
You can watch a little sneak preview of the tour here:
Jónsi will play a variety of gigs across the UK this September plus a show at the Hammersmith Apollo in November. If his North America and European gig reviews are anything to go by, the tour promises to be spectacular. I certainly don’t need to be told twice about this given that I’m a real theatre and culture vulture – so combine it with some brilliant music and I’m there like a shot!
