Mercury Music Prize Shortlist Announced!

The 2010 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize nominees have been announced and what a brilliant host of talent they have chosen for the shortlist including GigsAndTours’ favourites Foals for their album Total Life Forever. After producing a cracking follow-up to their debut album Antidotes, which has been praised by countless reviews and critics, the band have finally gained the recognition they deserve. After seeing them live in Manchester earlier this year, I am definately a fan so well done lads. The band are on tour later this year so no doubt any remaining tickets will be snapped up pretty smartish now.

Also in the running for this year’s coveted prize are Biffy Clyro for Only Revolutions and Mumford and Sons for Sigh No More, as well as Laura Marling, Paul Weller, The XX, I am Kloot, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dizzee Rascal, Wild Beasts, Kit Downes Trio and Villagers.

The winner will be announced at the Awards show in London on 7th September.

In the meantime check out this treat….
